Concentration, sources, potential ecological and human health risks assessment of trace elements in roadside soil in Hamedan metropolitan, west of Iran

The road shipping has become one of the major metal contamination sources that could impact on roadside soils. Therefore, this study was conducted to determination, possible source identification and potential ecological human health risks assessment trace elements (Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb, Zn) in surface soil samples Hamedan, west Iran 2018. In so doing, a total 63 specimens from three main highways, including Goltapeh (G), Razan (R), Kermanshah (K), were collected. Then, contents soils determined using ICP-OES. Based results obtained, highways with heavy traffic have highest accumulation all metals, suggesting effect density metals concentrations. Computed values pollution indices mean 0.970 for I-geo 2.16 PI pointed out collected R K roads primarily contaminated by Zn. risk (RI) indicated soNo conflict interest reported author(s).ils at sites RI < 150 low risk. Also, based there no substantial non-carcinogenic found both children adults through exposure studied soil. carcinogenic Cr target populations tolerable or acceptable level, while other considerable Hazard quotient (HQ) demonstrated ingestion path man beings. Multivariate statistical analyses represented Mn derived minerals erosion exhaust sources. Other also non-exhaust (e.g. wear tear brakes, tires, engines, lubricating oil). Our findings be provided theoretic basis data support monitoring control, remediation treatment implementation public prevention areas Hamedan.
